Just been for my morning cycle. So, what can I tell you?
Played at a posh wedding on Saturday. At a place in Kidderminster. There were three weddings that day, in different rooms. Brides everywhere, people sweating in inappropriate clothing, blokes wishing they were watching the 'footie'.
The MC cynically told me "every day is a special day here . . still, pays the bills".
Weddings are big earners for me, but I'm pleased in a way that they are only a small part of my playing. I wouldn't care to be strictly a wedding pianist.
Julie said, it's strange how the one institution I've never had much time for (marriage) has ended up earning me money.
But it is an industry, just like any other. The photographers, the cars, the whole thing. It's become like Christmas. Many people feel they have to conform to the idea of a 'traditional' wedding by spending so much on stuff that, let's face it, is a bit worthless, (chocolate fountain?). They feel they have to do it 'properly' don't they? According to wedding insurers Weddingplan, the cost of an average wedding is now £12000, and is rising at more than twice the rate of inflation. Amazing!

We went to Stafford Rock & Roll club Sunday night and saw some fine slap bass action with a saxophone bonus feature. Splendid entertainment for six quid!

I'm off up town to get a college prospectus. I fancy a course on recording music. I've got everything I need to record except the knowledge. I've got a bagfull of half finished songs, and the time now to get them sorted. Then I'll write my novel.
No, honest, I'd write a great novel, me.
