Elvis Week, part two.

I can't 'miss Elvis' because I don't ever remember him being alive. I've certainly no right to 'mourn' him. As for the thousands of fans attending 'Elvis Week' over in Memphis, well it's not for me. I'm a different kind of Elvis nut.
I do have friends over there though, and I'm thrilled they are having such a good time. I've been getting text messages from Tennessee all week, and I do feel grudgingly envious. But I was there in February (see pic). The local radio has been playing Elvis and a few of my friends have been on there being interviewed. Monday I met up with some Elvis friends for a pub meal, and very nice it was too.
There's a cult-like dimension to the Elvis phenomenon. I used to think it a little unhealthy but is it any less healthy than any other organised religion? At least being part of the Elvis cult you are encouraged to dance, party, enjoy yourself. There are no rules (apart from 'thou shall love Elvis'), and the only guilt you have to worry about, is buying Cliff Richard records.
Tonight I'm playing. I'm going to wear my Elvis tie and play lots of songs Elvis made famous. Got any requests?

'Peace in the valley' has a really fine melody.

Should work a treat with a piano, a soft atmosphere, and a relaxed clientale.

Playing this number, before the w'end is out, would be pretty nice.

I wouldn't break it out at a chav joint though, nor a beer monster hall!
