What's it all about? This music thing.
Tonight I played with the ArcherMarriott Blues Band. They're pretty good and play the blues circuit and festivals. I took my digital Hammond (above, this was my view just before we started playing. Setlist and hat pictured). I expected to enjoy it more than I did, if I'm honest.
It seems to me, wherever you play, it's never quite right.
Do you remember the phone picture of that Spanish guy and his pipes? I posted a phone pic on here. He was great. I met up with him in my local and he loved the English folk thing. Then he played his pipes to drunk people who danced. Because drunk people will dance to anything.
And tonight, the band played Mustang Sally (a song I fucking hate) and drunk people danced.
Yet I used to think that making people dance was the most important thing about being in a band. Perhaps it is. . but it's not the most important thing about making music, is it?
Ignore me. I'm waffling because it seems to me people want to make music for so many reasons, but it's often not about music at all.
