I did a music lesson home visit on Monday, out in the country. The people had hens and gave me some eggs.. ("do you like eggs?" they asked? "do I like eggs?? I'm the omlette mutha@" I said!).
Anyway, these eggs are splendid. All different colours, and scrambled, the golden yellow colour, the rich creamy taste. . the shells are thicker and everything.
I compared them to 'supermarket' eggs and was amazed. The supermarket eggs were all the same colour, thin shells, watery, pale yolks. I'll get some more next week and show you.
I was telling my Dad and he said how he saw a TV show where they told you about how hens were kept; the stories were horrifying! and I felt quite guilty that I never knew all this, and have taken eggs for granted.
Now I'm only going to buy happy hen eggs.
