Full speed and pagan

History books tell us the Romans came to these shores and educated us. And that's the start of British history. And that's like saying pop music started with the Beatles, (which is also a current 'factual' opinion).
Nah, we were here doing groovy stuff thousands of years before the Romans. And we were just like we are now. Partying, working, gazing at the heavens and driven by sex and food and 'stuff' and wanting to make our mark on the landscape.

I got into our pagan past in 1990, after visiting Avebury that winter and being amazed by the whole undertaking. I've been back every year, several times a year, ever since. And it's the landscape that enchants as much as the stones. It's an amazing place.
The greatest book on this county's pre-history is The Modern Antiquarian. It came out in 1998, it put everything together in a poetic way.
I got online soon after. So a world of Megaliths opened up . . and I've been in some places since then that have given me so much pleasure it's obscene.
In 2004 I visited ancient stone circles from Land's End to the Outer Hebrides. From Wales, to Ireland, to Scotland, I saw loads, and it was wonderful. I'll never have a better megalithic year.
There are over a thousand still remaining in the UK. I've seen around a hundred, (and to give you some idea how honorable that number is, I live an hour and a half's fast drive from the nearest stone circle). But there's one, the most famous, that I've not seen for about sixteen years. So I'm going soon.

This is me inside the 'creep' of Bouleigh Foogu. Don't ask!

Wales. Pentre Ifan.

And lastly, Julie on the Isle of Lewis, sketching. (not just a great musical person, she's also a great artist).

Blessed be!
Happy solstice everyone!

(and don't worry, it's only cosmic drama)
