"I'd like to help you son. . ."

According to the Met Office yesterday was the start of summer.
So of course, it's raining this morning, so my treck up the great hill being a nature boy is scuppered. I may think about negotiating Caer Caradoc tomorrow. If I get organised. .

Bo Diddley's dead. Another originator from the golden era gone! I did see him in the nineties (and had tickets for a show last year too, though it was cancelled). Shame.

The work's still trickling in. Piano bookings flowering from seeds I've planted over the last few years. I'm off to another hotel today where I've heard they've got a piano. I played at Tettenhall yesterday, Patshull Country Club Sunday, the Roman Way Hotel Cannock Saturday, The Mount Hotel Friday. .
Y'know, Monday morning used to be horrible as a gas fitter. Turning up at work bleary eyed, and wondering if customers had complaints, what problems had arisen over the weekend . . hell it was.
Yesterday I got up, a bit late, made a strong coffee, eat a pink grapefruit and got this email from Saturday's booking. .
Richard,
You were fantastic! We really couldn't thank you enough!
You went above and beyond our expectations. Our most sincere thanks for your time, effort and beautiful music. You really made our wedding reception perfect
.
See! don't that beat being a gas fitter? Plus, I earn more money, and if I make a mistake playing a piano, I don't kill anyone!
What a life! I love it!

Monday is given over to teaching. A solid twelve hour slab, but that's okay. You have to do some work don't you?
Light & shade, balance of life and all that.

£60 it costs to fill the van with diesel. Mad!
