Fancied a supper of salmon and baked vegetables after lessons yesterday so I went to Asda about eight fifteen. It's right next to the football ground and I heard the crowd chanting, going the game they were.
Y'know, I'll never understand football crowds. I just don't know what or why they are all doing what they are doing, the aggressive chanting thing.
I suppose it satisfies some kind of primeval urge, a sense of clanship, a feeling of belonging, I dunno, but I listened last night and actually found it quite scary.
On the news today there's reports of crowd violence in London. I suppose football matches might be seen to be a useful pressure release for those needing to get stuff out of their system, but I do think the crowd baying and taunting just excites these people and that's when the chanting spills over into real violence.
I'll never understand it.
