'Blue ain't the word'

The last two times Jerry Lee Lewis played Amsterdam I flew over to see him. 2008 & 2009. Fantastic trips, and tonight he's playing there again.
I thought about going, but the old guy's had ill health this past year, been cancelling shows . . (he's 74). Had it been anywhere in the UK, I'd have gone, but booking plane flights, y'know? I thought it a risk.
Of course, you should never underestimate the Killer. Reports say he's rallied round and been setting the stage alight every night on the European tour, and right now, as I type, he's on the same stage I saw him on in Amsterdam in 2008.
While I'm here in Wolverhampton.
Shucks.
At least I have his latest CD to listen to. It's a country kick-around with other 'stars' (thankfully) mostly singing back-up. I love it, though there's not enough piano, but perhaps he didn't feel like playing much?
Naahhh. . . I don't feel so hard done to really. I've seen him 20 times, each one a massive thrill, each time different, each time a great privilege. See, as much as I love the fifties American Rock & Roll music, Jerry Lee kinda transcends almost of them, because he's a pianist and a true original and is so un-corporate, so un-refined, so-human that's it's almost impossible to place him in 'show business'. .
John Lennon kissed his feet fer fuck's sake! And I'm talking post Beatles here, when Lennon's head was bigger than a space-hopper!
Shit, guys. . . I should have gone tonight.
Jerry Lee's playing my 21st Jerry Lee show without me.
