A youth inclined to ramble

Cara Dillon. That's what you want playing on a warm summer's evening with the windows open. Then a bit of Nick Drake.
Now I've got more time on my hands I've been able to do some spring cleaning today. The bedroom looks less like a student's and a little more like the room of a responsible adult. The bookshelves are impressive, heavily stocked and bulging - but when you get closer and you see the subject matter, it's not so impressive. I've got far to many books on Elvis, Rock & Roll and other music. Then there's my Fortean collection, bigfoot, UFOs, Earth Mysteries . .
The novels are okay though. I'd be happy anyone going through them. Thomas Hardy, Mark Twain, Conan Doyle, Steinbeck. . all the good ones. Not a Jeffery Archer in sight! I'm discerning about my novels.
In fact, I've found Conrad's Heart Of Darkness out, and I've never read that, so that's me next book.
Oh yea, then there's my archeology books and loads of astronomy too, so that shows I'm not thick, right?
Busy last week. Thursday I played at the Mount Hotel, which is a lovely building. It was red hot, and I took the piano out on the patio and played Gershwin whilst people drank and took photos. It was splendid! Then I packed the piano up and twenty minutes later I was playing at a restaurant in Shifnall. Busy me, eh?
Then Friday I played at a hotel called The Village and I marvelled at how fat Dudley people were. Lardy bastards!
Anyway, whilst in Austria I visited the Planetarium by the Prater Funfair. And very good it was, one of the best I've seen. Despite it being all in German!

Planetariums are fantastic. Which is why I could cry about the London Planitarium. Here's something I pasted from wickypedia or whatever it's called.

In January 2006, the London Planetarium had been renamed the Auditorium, and Madame Tussauds announced that in July 2006 the Auditorium would open with a show by Aardman Animations about celebrities. To say 'farewell' to the planetarium, Madame Tussauds allowed free entry to the show in its penultimate, week (24–30 April 2006).
The London Planetariam no longer exists and it is no longer possible to visit it as a discrete attraction. The web site is redirected to Madame Tussauds and here is a statement from their web site:
"In 2006 the Planetarium was rebranded and renamed the Star Dome. The Star Dome is part of the Madame Tussauds attraction and is included in the ticket price. Please note that we no longer show astronomy-based shows"

Celebrities. How depressing!

I saw the milky way last weekend, in the beautiful dark Wiltshire skies. I said "I'd like to know how many city school kids have seen the Milky Way, or even if they know what it is?".
Anyway, the Prater funfair is fantastic for another reason. The famous Ferris Wheel. It was in The Third Man movie (I think), but more importantly it was in a Bond movie, The Living Daylights. So that's me happy to have been there then!

Remember to look upwards tonight on your way home from all these gigs!

Saw a good show from the Perseids last night by just lying on my back in the garden at 1am.

They will be even brighter for you tonite.

Keep blogging. It is a great read.

Thanks for the reminder! I finish playing a ten thirty so I'll head away from the bright lights, big city to catch a glimps.
I'll remind Julie too, she's away at a festival being a hippy.
