God, Bush, Lou Reed, y'know . . stuff.

Here's a fantastic piece of art my friend showed me in Manchester. I think it's called 'B Of The Bang'. It's very very big and most impressive. Looks to be made of steel.

Anyways . .

Finally got round to starting Daniel Mason's The Piano Tuner today. I'm enjoying it. I read it between breaks at tonight's booking. It's about the British in Burma in the late 1800's.

When I got home I heard an interesting documentary on The Dixie Chicks, and the hard time they had from the American media after they were vocal about Bush's hypocrisy. One quote about Bush had me reeling. . and it looks like it's true. From the BBC website . .

President George W Bush told Palestinian ministers that God had told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq - and create a Palestinian State, a new BBC series reveals.

That's scary isn't it? And even more chilling seeing as I've had my nose in Richard Dawkin's The God Delusion for a few hours today, I'm thinking it to be a very important book indeed. Splendid to see it doing so well in the bookshops, offering a healthy slice of science and reason in these crazy times.

Lou Reed's New York album is being re-released and I'm gonna buy it and I urge you to take a listen if you haven't heard it. It's pure poetry and attitude and great riffs. I'm hoping there's extra tracks.

It's late, I'm tired but there's good music on the radio and I haven't got to get up early. There was a wonderful clear sky as I left tonight's venue. I saw Perseus, Cassiopeia, and loads of Summer constellations. I can see the bright beacon of Vega now through my window. Feel good.
