A photo from last night. Marina, Rupert (who is a muso type and sings and plays in the local pubs), Maltese Tony, Barbara, who runs the local Elvis Fan club (I kid you not!), and raven haired singer Julie in Whitmore Reans last night.
More about that later .
But first, a few snaps of the fantastic Grand Theatre, only 20 mins walk from my own batchelor 'pad'. It's a proper old theatre over 100 years and one of the finest in the country. English fifties cockerney rocker Joe Brown was there last Friday, and it was a right good night.

I see they've passed a law in an American State making 'cyberbullying' a crime. Seems someone has fallen in love with a hoaxer . . amazing story.
I used to visit a guy's blog, and he professed to have fallen in love with a Russian girl he'd never met, the whole idea of love on the Internet fascinates me. I think it must happen a lot, especially amongst people who aren't to great in social situations anyway. And I think there's a bit of glamour associated with it all. The distance is alluring.
As for the cyberbullying thing, I can imagine it happening. I see it a lot of it on pop star forums. I visit five or six, mostly associated with rock & roll. There always seems to be a familiar hierarchy in these forums, almost like little societies where factions break off and the natural leaders appear.
There's the the rose tinted fan, who sees no harm in anything their hero does. The 'know it all', who values his own opinion with impunity, and the thicko, who types garbled, silly posts. . I reckon I can find incarnations of all three on every pop star forum I visit. They're obsessives I suppose, and I suppose I am too for keep going there, but I'm toning down my visits. .

So last night, a cold Sunday night in some Working Men's club in the not so nice part of town. Yet the function room was busy, as local boogie king and fifties throwback Mike Sanchez thrilled the crowd with his good rocking piano style, and larger than life personality that had me shouting with glee as he served up a hot boogie platter of Fats Domino, Big Bopper and classic R&B.
I chatted with him about his cancelled support slot with Little Richard in London, which I knew must be a dream come true for him. I had tickets for the show, which might yet take place next March. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. . I used to go to watch Mike when he fronted rockabilly band The Big Town Playboys. He reminded me that was 25 years ago.
Bollocks to growing old! Little Richard is in his mid seventies and still singing Tutti Fruitti!
