It's very hot in the UK at the moment. I'm sitting here sweltering and thinking 'I hope the gerbils are okay'. They are having a nice time, Cilla is on her wheel, Sandie is eating (as usual), and they don't look too hot or listless, and they are desert animals anyway. .
But I still thought about bringing the electrical fan in to cool them (and me) down.
But when I browsed the gerbil forum it said fans were no good, because gerbils don't sweat.
Eh?
So a fan helps to evaporate the moisture on our skin, and that's why we feel cooler. . I never knew that. So if I stuck a gerbil in front of a fan, I'd feel cooler but the gerbil wouldn't.
Awww, poor little gerbs.
